CHAMPION'S CORNER

Do you have what it takes?

Many have joined, few have prevailed. Please meet our past Champions. These brave individuals set out to conquer the most competitive bracket that one can join and now will go down in the history books as one of the best to ever do it. Hope to see you join these living legends.

2025 Champion

Jared "Cue Ball" Owen

Background

October 14th, 1994, in San Gabriel Valley Medical Center in Los Alamitos, CA your 2025 Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational Champion, Jared "Cue Ball" Owen was born. Many say you could feel a sudden burst of energy early that afternoon. Rumor has it when "Cue Ball" was born, there was a generational storm with hail, rain, thunder and lightning. This was beautiful foreshadowing of how "Que-ball's" 2025 Bracket would cast a storm an any other bracket it came across. After briefly taking to his parents, I knew that Jared "Cue Ball" Owen was destined for greatness. "From a young age we knew 'Cue Ball' had nothing but potential." his mom continued, "He was a standout baseball player and even better with the ladies, but we did not think he had this in him". Not many have the power of that "Cue Ball" possesses.

Fun fact

Jared "Cue Ball" Owen is not just a bracket making machine, he's also been known to rip some lips. As a young lad, "Cue Ball"  won the 2005 Avalon Green Pleasure Pier Fishing Derby. He caught an astounding and embellished 14 fish in 1 hour. Talk about a man that can do it all.

Who do you give credit to/ What inspired you?

The "Cue Ball" would like to point out that his haters will claim that he tailed brackets of prominent college basketball analysts, but this could not be further from the truth. To let you in on "Cue Ball's" little secret to his bracket perfection, he met a psychic gypsy behind Mutt's one night, handed her the phone, and the rest is history.

Favorite thing about J.M.M.M.B.I.

"Cue Ball's" Favorite thing about Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational is that "these are the best players in the world". He added, "This is what you grow up dreaming about and work so hard for, to get to this moment and compete with the best is surreal. I am humbled and honored to be a part of Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational"

What did you do with the winnings?

Unlike our first two champions, Jared "Cue Ball' Owen did something with the winnings that his mother would be proud of, He stuck his winnings in a high yield savings account. He not only fills out brackets safely, but also is fiscally responsible.

2024 Champion

Willbur "The Bowling Ball" Farrier

Background

"The Bowling Ball" claims Compton, CA to be his home despite being born and raised in San Clemente, CA. This all makes sense when you take into account that his favorite food is any breakfast item that you can throw hot sauce on. Many have asked how he got the name of "The Bowling ball", well one time we went bowling and said I don't need a ball, he proceeded to butter up his belly and slide on his belly to knock over the pins. He did all of that to get a 7-10 split. Good work bud.

Fun fact

He completed his first CPR the day after his 21st birthday hungover diving off of a boat to grab the victim. He is a man of so many talents I will share one more fun fact. He is world ranked in the parallel parking league. His key to victory you ask? A few cold ones. "Alcohol is a super power" he claims.

Who do you give credit to/ What inspired you?

He claims to give credit to his "Artificial Intellect Companion". It did prevail in 2024, but his companion might have forgotten to tell him to finalize his bracket in the 2025 Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational, as he joined the invitational, but did not submit a bracket.

Favorite thing about J.M.M.M.B.I.

"The Bowling Ball's" favorite part of Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational is the player introductions. He says it helps him get a feel of who he needs to defeat. "Its a good way to find out peoples strengths, and most importantly, their weaknesses".

What did you do with the winnings?

Wilbur wasted no time after winning Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational, he used the winnings to try his luck at doubling it at the casino. Unfortunately, as we all see coming from a mile away, he immediately made a donation to the "evil black jack dealer". He claims he is long over due for revenge. He is going to win it all back with interest just like how he won the second annual Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational.

Inaugural Champion (2023)

Luka "The Hefty Lefty" Vasilivic

Background

Luka "The Hefty Lefty" Vasilivic grew up in Mission Viejo, California by way of Torrance, California. A west coast boy through and through gained the respect of Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational's scouts via his water polo skills. One scout said, "When he plays water polo he looks like he can see into the future". If you combine that along with being a south paw many have called collusion on "The Hefty Lefty" saying he might be a witch. We cannot prove anything all we know is that he took Uconn to win it all, and that punched his ticket to become our first ever Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational Champion.

Fun fact

A fun fact about Luka is that he "knows" UCSD will be your 2026 March Madness Champion. His sources claim that the next Lebron James is committed to UC San Diego. He strongly recommends to hammer the Tritons to the final four at 1000/1 odds. If this hit this would be his second greatest feat behind being our inaugural champion.

Who do you give credit to/ What inspired you?

Luka "The Hefty Lefty" has been training for this invitational since before it was even an idea. He would like to give credit to the countless hours of degenerate gambling throughout the years. When it came to crunch time he knew what to do, and did not shy away from the bright lights.

Favorite thing about J.M.M.M.B.I.

"The Hefty Lefty's" favorite part about Jack McLaughlin's March Madness Bracket Invitational is all of the compliments that he got while wearing the winner's Jacket. He claims, "Tens of thousands have olympic medals, Thousands have won a Super Bowl, hundreds have won majors in golf, I was the ONLY person to win this coveted Jacket"

What did you do with the winnings?

Naturally money that is won in this fashion is free money, as a finance bro he re-invested it into the Denver Nugget's 2023 championship stock. Unfortunately for "The Hefty Lefty", that did not work out as he had anticipated.
